Mount Augustine in Alaska after the January 2006 eruptions: steam is rising from the newly formed lava dome, and a cap cloud lies over the summit of the volcano. A cap cloud forms when humid air is forced to rise over a mountain, lifting it to above its condensation level.

Photographed on February 19 at Augustine island. Nikon FE with Provia 100F film.
