The ice on Lake Markermeer, The Netherlands, piling up along a dike. The Dutch call this "kruiend ijs" (lit. carrying ice). The ice plates on the lake shift around by wind and currents, mostly when the ice is thin and growing, or after a frost period when the ice is melting.

Photo taken on January 10, 2003, near Wijdenes, The Netherlands. Nikon FE with Nikkor 20mm @ f/11, on Fuji Provia 100-F slide film.
