Light pollution, next to cloudiness, is the most notorious astronomer's grief. As cities expand more and more, the areas having truly dark nights are quickly diminishing. These photos are shown to illustrate what happens when one tries photography during the night, with exposure times of more than 5 to 10 minutes. These photos were taken in a rural area in The Netherlands.
